Two More Work Days!

Two more work days!

Thursday and Friday are it! Although my "official" retirement date is to be September 30, that falls on a Sunday this year, so Friday is going to be my last day at work for my current employer. As the time approaches, more and more people pop out of the woodwork asking, "How are you going to avoid boredom?" or "What are you gonna do with your time?" The fact is, I probably will have less unstructured time.

Anticipation - or Anxiety?

Retirement!

By this time next month, I'll have been retired about 48 hours. How can one actually look forward to living on half his/her current gross annual income ? Fairly easily, actually, if you observe and remember that many people retire on even less - like whatever Social Security pays.

Background

For a long while I posted my blog on MySpace™, but it seemed that as time passed, my pages were getting slower and slower to load. My pages there were highly customized, but those customizations were fairly low overhead.

Because of the deteriorating performance, I started using Facebook™ more, and MySpace™ less. I'm convinced that the performance problem was a direct result of the intensive vendor scripting and advertisements.

Subsequently, MySpace™ made more changes, and my pages lost a lot of their custom formatting, making the actual posts pretty much unreadable. I had to do something, but I was tired of trying to live within the restrictions there anyway, and too lazy to go back and fix what they broke.

I considered moving everything to Facebook, but the format there isn't very friendly to my style of blogging, so I moved my last remaining blog here.

Some of the material from there is dated, and perhaps no longer relevant, but it may have some historical interest. As with my other blogs, as much as I value feedback, I'm not going to try to move comments. Blogger doesn't provide a way to import anything from a different blog site, including comments, and I don't know of an acceptable way to do it manually.

Feel free to read what I wrote, and comment if you want, but remember to look at the dates on the posts, and keep things in perspective.
